XP-Pen - The Drawing Tablets You Can Afford

This is XP-Pen's first year as a sponsor of Cubebrush's Art War so we had a quick chat to discover more about them! First place 3D winner gets their hands on the Artist 22R Pro while second place enjoys the Artist 15.6 Pro.

Along with their affordable drawing tablets, XP-Pen also offers pen display monitors, stylus pens, and related accessories. We had a chance to talk to them about where it all started and what artists can expect from them in the future. Check out our interview with them below.

Where Did it All Start?

In 2005, XP-Pen was created in Japan and began its research and development of graphic tablets. Over the course of 14 painstaking years, XP-Pen has been dedicated to the research, design, production, and marketing of digital tablets.

With sales to more than 100 countries and regions around the world, XP-Pen has become a well-known brand of digital graphics tablets.

What's XP-Pen's Overall Goal?

XP-Pen is committed to endless innovation and to bring every artist into the digital age with tools and technology to suit their individual needs. We wish to provide all passionate and engaging individuals, young and new, an opportunity to create and draw what they love.

To help move this goal forward, XP-Pen created an art community that encourages artists to showcase their talents and participate in various events.

What sets your product apart from competitors?

XP-Pen provides the best drawing tool for different ranges of people, from beginners to masters at a reasonable price.

What is a good starting point for someone who has never used your product before?

We recommend those to learn XP-Pen more first then have a try our Star and Deco Series graphics tablet or the Artist 12Pro, those devices we designed for beginners.

Any advice for ambitious artists out there?

To make a portfolio isn’t just to put all your artwork together. Your portfolio has to show your art skills.

Remember, a portfolio is a reflection of you as an artist.

So you must make a selection of your better work and your work has to be varied, thus the person who will receive the portfolio can see your strengths.

A good portfolio also has to be an internal structure, we mean it should include:

  • A chapter for backgrounds
  • A chapter for character design
  • A chapter for concept art, etc
  • A chapter with work history highlighted
  • Consider creating a storyline for the entirety of your portfolio

The important thing to remember is that sometimes good portfolios are those that take a few years to complete. So don't rush it.
