The Alexis Company was created by builder Alex Francis and Australian engineer Bill Harris. The Alexis Company produced Formula Juniors and later, Formula Fords during the sixties and early seventies. They were one of the first companies to build cars for the Formula Ford series, and this helped them secure a contract with the Russell Racing School for providing a rather substantial order of Formula Ford racers. The company's reputation rose when James Hunt drove an Alexis MK15 to a World Championship. The United States imported of Alexis Cars was Fred Opert. As would be expected, the MK15 was an evolution of the MK14 and based on the company's Formula 3 car (the MK9).
