Lazanja's GameJam Master Material

This product is ideal for beginners in Unreal and Environment Artists and Level Designers who would like to focus on their work and keep their materials organized. It also comes with a stylized planks material as an example.

Usage Scenario:

Its purpose is to rapidly speed up material creation for using downloaded textures from all the different sources like:

Quixel, Substance, 3DTextures.me, CC0Textures, TextureHaven etc.

The Master material is both flexible to be able to support any kind of texture setup from any source while also being easy to use and maintaining PBR calibration.

It allowed me to reduce the time wasted on importing and calibrating materials.

The time which I productively used producing the game assets while also knowing which materials I have while designing.

I'll be using this material setup in future game jam productions to improve my results.

For all you Substance Painter users, I've got some good news, that will alleviate any beginner's headache.

This Master material has a Substance Import parameter tailored to the default UE4 Export configuration.

You can just tick the parameter and put your OcclusionRoughnessMetallic map in there and it will be correctly implemented.

And the regular tweaking parameters can also be used to tweak your imported substance textures.

Usage Instructions:

-Find, download and import the textures you'll need

-Right-click on M_Master and Left-click on Create material instance

-Name it whatever you want and double-click to open it up

-Now tick the Texture Parameters you want to use, they're correspondent to the suffix of the imported texture names. [NOTE: Base Color goes into Albedo]

-Now you can enable whatever parameters you want to tweak the material to your liking

Migration Instructions:

-If you want to use this asset in your existing project, Right-click the GameJamMasterMaterial folder and click on migrate...

-Click Ok, and navigate to your project's content folder where you want to move it

-There, it should now be available in your project

This asset was made by me during the Summer 2019 UE4Jam on version 4.22.3 for a game called Submerged,
